Rialto Bridge is one of the busiest crossings in Venice, which is exactly why finding a reliable restaurant nearby can feel hard. Terrazza Sommariva is on Riva del Vin, San Polo 731 — the Grand Canal quayside that starts at the foot of the bridge on the San Polo side, about a one-minute walk. This guide explains, concretely, how to get there, what to expect and how to choose.

Getting there. By vaporetto the easiest stop is San Silvestro (line 1): it is on our side of the canal, San Polo, one or two minutes' walk with no bridges. From the Rialto stop (lines 1 and 2), on the opposite bank, cross Rialto Bridge and walk down to Riva del Vin. Water taxis can stop in front of the restaurant. From Santa Lucia station it is about a 20–25 minute walk.

How to recognise a good restaurant nearby. Check three things: a full priced menu published online, whole fish listed by weight (per 100 g), and many recent reviews. Terrazza Sommariva publishes its full menu with prices and has over 8,800 Google reviews with an average rating of 4.6.

What to order. From the sea: the Plateau Royal of raw seafood and shellfish to share, tagliatelle with lobster, spaghetti alle vongole, whole sea bass or turbot (priced per 100 g). For meat lovers: Bistecca alla Fiorentina and Tomahawk at €13.00 per 100 g. Don't miss cacio e pepe finished in the cheese wheel at your table. Pizza and vegetarian pasta are on the menu too.

When to come. Terrazza Sommariva is open daily from 08:00 to 23:30 with continuous service: breakfast until 11:30, lunch, late lunch and dinner. Handy if you visit Rialto mid-afternoon, when many kitchens are closed.

How to book. You can book a table online or message WhatsApp at +39 041 523 1164 with your preference: canal-view terrace, indoor room or no preference. In high season canal-view tables are in demand, so it helps to get in touch a little ahead.
