Sliced Bistecca alla Fiorentina served at Terrazza Sommariva in Venice

There is a moment, at dinner on the Terrazza Sommariva terrace, when the whole table pauses: the arrival of a grilled steak, sliced and ready to share, with the Grand Canal flowing a few metres away. Venice is famous for seafood, yet grilled steak is one of our guests' favourite choices — and it deserves its own story.

Bistecca alla Fiorentina. The classic Tuscan cut, with the T-shaped bone dividing two characters: on one side the fillet, tender and delicate; on the other the sirloin, fuller in flavour. It is served sliced, designed to be shared by two.

The Tomahawk. Recognisable at first glance by its long rib bone, it is the most dramatic cut on the menu — generous and full of flavour. Perfect for a special dinner or a table that wants to share something memorable.

Clear pricing, by weight. Florentine and Tomahawk are both €13.00 per 100 g. As in any good steakhouse, the bill depends on the weight of the cut: before ordering, ask our staff for the approximate weight so you know exactly what to expect.

The right wine. Grilled steak calls for a structured red. Browse the wine list or let our staff suggest a bottle — the best way to round off the evening.

Sea and land at the same table. The beauty of Terrazza Sommariva is that nobody has to compromise: seafood lovers choose raw platters, lobster or whole fish, meat lovers share a Florentine. One dinner, every taste.

Where and when. Terrazza Sommariva, Riva del Vin 731, San Polo, on the Grand Canal next to Rialto Bridge, open daily 08:00–23:30. See the full menu and book on WhatsApp at +39 041 523 1164 — ask for a canal-view terrace table.
